The name aloe vera, is derived from the Arabic word ‘alleoh’ meaning ‘shining bitter substance,’ looks like a cactus but it isn’t and belongs to the Liliaceace family. This pea green colour plant has triangular, sessile stem, shallow root system, fleshy serrated leaves that are arranged in rosette having 30-50 cm length and 10 cm breadth at the base.

    Aloe vera grows up to 80-100 cm tall and weights around 1.5-2kg. And this perennial, drought resisting succulent plant mainly grows in the dry region of Africa, Asia, America and Europe, in India, it is found mainly in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.
