Water scarcity is a pressing issue in many parts of India, particularly in rural areas where traditional water sources are dwindling. Water has always been critical to life and livelihoods.

     Currently, 99 million people lack access to clean water in the country. Indigenous communities particularly women face the brunt of water shortages, aggravated by climate change and increasing desertification.
     Women, who frequently experience the challenges of water scarcity, are taking the lead in implementing creative solutions. Here, we chronicle some of the leading change makers who have devoted years to addressing problems concerning water and its associated issues. Their stories are not just about overcoming challenges; they represent resilience, creativity, and a profound commitment to community well-being.
